Train with the Legacy family!

Why should I consider joining a Taekwon-Do school?

The Benefits of Taekwon-Do Training

Respect, courtesy, and self-discipline are the core of every Legacy class

Our classes teach far more than just kicking and punching. An enlightened martial arts program provides many physical, mental, and spiritual health benefits that are equally as valuable to the student, if not moreso. From physical flexibility to intellectual focus to your own sense of self, Legacy Taekwon-Do School can help you build a better you.

Here are a few of the many ways that you can "level up" through training with us:

Build a stronger, more resilient body!
Our classes are a great way for people of all ages and ability levels to RELIEVE STRESS, improve and maintain FITNESS, and learn valuable SELF-DEFENSE skills. Injuries and strains are rare, as we focus on flexibility, agility, and overall fitness along with technical training in Taekwon-Do. Your fitness level will determine the journey; no two people are built exactly alike, and thus each student's "starting point" is determined by many factors. Regardless, we will always challenge and encourage you to steadily improve your skills, strength and fitness. And keep in mind: one hour of Taekwon-Do burns more calories than almost any other sports activity!

Refine your sense of balance and motor skills!
Through martial arts, a student becomes more attuned to how their body takes up and moves through the space around them. We practice specific drills to improve our sense of timing and distance, as well as physical balance and overall coordination of body movement. Skills developed in Taekwon-Do translate seamlessly to any other physical pursuit—from soccer to horsebackriding to gymnastics to everyday household and job responsibilities.

Level up your inner strength!
Taekwon-Do training is also a great way to challenge yourself to BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF that you can be. Beyond the physical benefits, THE PHILOSOPHY AND TENETS OF TAEKWON-DO will quickly become more than words that students recite before an hourlong class; they become a code to live by, a way of conducting oneself to achieve a more healthy and positive life for the other 23 hours of the day, as well.

Protect yourself and your loved ones!
It's a crazy world out there, and chances are it will remain that way for the foreseeable future. Taekwon-Do is at its root a style of self-defense that improves our odds as we make our way through life. The art guides an individual to use their whole physicality—not just hands and feet but also the coordination of the entire body in executing movement that can generate enough power to defend yourself from a larger, advancing opponent. We learn to identify the vital spots and attacking tools on the human body that can be used to neutralize an opponent.

Set and achieve personal goals!
The belt ranking system that leads from white belt (beginner) to black belt (expert) is the most obvious example of how students set and achieve goals in Taekwon-Do. As students progress through the ranks, they are introduced to requirements that grow more difficult yet build upon the foundation of the previous rank. But this isn't just about belt rank...each new technique mastered, each obstacle overcome through hard work and dedication, each "I can't do it" that transforms into a "oh wow I just did it" is a lesson in the power of setting and reaching for personal goals.

Focus your energy in positive directions!
Through training, students develop both physical and mental focus. Physically, we learn to control our body and understand its ability to produce power. Mentally, the process of taking on a huge challenge and breaking it into manageable steps, by slowly building and improving our technique and ability, provides students a perspective on the art of overcoming obstacles—a valuable skill that promotes success in the dojang and in all aspects of a Taekwon-Do practitioner's life.

Elevate your self-esteem!
The development of strength and self-defense skill reinforces a student's belief in themselves and their own abilities. "Investing in yourself" in this way promotes achievement and self-improvement that transcends a student's Taekwon-Do training and creates positive ripples across all aspects of life, and provides confidence in one's ability to handle difficult situations.

Engage your family in fitness and fun!
Legacy provides an encouraging and fun environment for children and families to learn a martial art together. Parents and children who train together spend true "quality time" as they work to improve their skills. There are very few activities that welcome direct participation from the entire family. Taekwon-Do is one of very few activities that a person can start at any age, engage throughout their entire life, and pursue with friends of all ages and abilities.
